About

Ilke Arseven born in cold Eskisehir, grew up in Ankara before enrolling in the International Trade Department, than master degree on International Relations. Worked in several companies for the last 20 years in Istanbul.  During university, a deep passion for the arts led to participation in courses at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Painting Department.

Arseven's artistic journey began early, winning an award in the 1996 Ankara Inter-High School Painting Competition. In 2007, two of Arseven's designs were selected for the prestigious International Cow Parade competition. The artist also took part in the group exhibition "45 Works, 15 Artists" at Çekirdek Art Gallery and was accepted into Marvin Mattelson's "Classical Portrait Training" course at the School of Visual Arts in New York, United States.

During university, under the mentorship of Demet Sancak Topaloğlu, a student of renowned artist Burhan Doğancay, Arseven honed painting techniques and artistic expression. She was so lucky to have face to face meetings with Omer Uluc, Orhan Taylan and Zerrin Tekindor to share and have opinion about her art. She has attended oil painting classes of Gulin Hayat Topdemir for a year.

She became a mother in 2016, during pandemi; she started to took lessons of botanical drawing and painting at Klasik Turk Sanatlari Vakfi, attended several workshops including on botanical drawing; continued her trainings at NGBB Botanic Garden; and completed Advanced Technical Drawing in Botanics; Watercolor in Botanics courses.

The works reflect a synthesis of contemporary and modern art movements, especially underlining how fragile and inadequate humanity is in contrast to the vast, untamed power of nature. Since years, Arseven has continued to create and develop art in a dedicated studio, having traveled extensively and experienced diverse cultures, the artist integrates both Eastern and Western influences, always placing humanity at the heart of the artistic narrative.
